Dr. Shaffer grew up in Salina, KS and graduated from Salina Central. He earned his MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, KS in 2000. He also interned at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in dermatology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. His residency included training in dermatopathology.
